We are so excited to welcome Dr Martin Newbury to our team at Mooroolbark Medical Centre, all the way from the UK!

Dr Newbury has over 17 years of experience, initially training in Emergency Medicine and more recently General Practice, having obtained post-graduate diplomas in both. He focusses on a holistic approach to patient care, and has interests in musculo-skeletal medicine (including joint injections), mental health, minor surgical procedures and skin conditions.

When not at work Dr Newbury is a sports tragic, especially for tennis and cycling, and can often be found chasing after his young daughter around parks and shopping malls.

Dr Newbury will be available for consultations Monday – Thursday at Mooroolbark Medical Centre- make sure you come say hi!

What is an Iron Deficiency?

Iron Deficiency Anemia occurs when your body does not have enough to produce hemoglobin- the part of red blood cells that gives blood its red color and enables the red blood cells to carry oxygenated blood throughout your body.

Some symptoms of Iron Deficiency Anemia include:

• Fatigue
• Weakness
• Pale skin
• Chest pain, fast heartbeat or shortness of breath
• Headache, dizziness or lightheadedness
• Cold hands and feet
• Inflammation or soreness of your tongue
• Brittle nails
• Unusual cravings for non-nutritive substances, such as ice, dirt or starch

What is an Iron Infusion?
An Iron Infusion is the procedure in which iron is delivered to your body intravenously.
At Mooroolbark Medical Centre, we offer an Intravenous Iron Infusion that can be completed in 60 minutes or less!

This year we welcome Accredited Dietitian, Matisse Chambers, to our team!

Matisse understands the benefits of a healthy diet and the scientific research behind using food as medicine to improve health and well being and to prevent and manage disease. She is incredibly passionate about sharing this knowledge as practical, easy to understand nutrition advice and inspiring others to eat food in ways that supports health and happiness. She believes that all foods can be part of a healthy diet and that we don’t just eat for nutrition, but also for pleasure. Her approach is holistic and client-centred, taking into consideration all aspects of your lifestyle, the importance of mindset and self-awareness, and tailoring advice to your goals in achievable bite-size pieces – pun intended!

Matisse is available for consultation every Wednesday from our Diabetes Hub upstairs.

We are very excited at Mooroolbark Medical Centre to be the proud sponsor of a table at the Macnee Family Fundraiser, which is being held this Friday evening at St. Bernadette’s Primary School.

A huge trivia night has been planned with lots of games and prizes- and most importantly, all proceeds will go towards 12 year old Riley Macnee’s cancer treatment.
